NC Firefighter Suffers Eighth Heart Attack, Revived with CPR, AED

Chesterfield Fire Rescue Firefighter David Hart is already back at the station.

A Chesterfield firefighter has heart -- literally.

Firefighter David Hart was at the pump panel at a camper trailer fire last week when he didn't feel right, WBTV reported.

The next thing he remembers is being loaded into the ambulance.

Fellow firefighters had started CPR and used an AED to revive him.

“It was under five minutes, but it felt like eternity. This is like an everyday thing for us. We respond to cardiac arrests all the time, but it feels more personal when it’s one of your own people,” Amanda Buff told a reporter.

Hart said it was his eighth heart attack, and this time he was dead for nearly five minutes.

“I can honestly say my gratitude is for Amanda. That saved my life. Because of her, I’m here.”

Hart, who was released from the hospital Monday is already back at the Chesterfield Fire Rescue station.
